NYNM (New Year, New Me): Week 1

One could argue I started working out with a trainer at the worst possible time of the year.

I would disagree.

I would argue this is the BEST time of year to start a change!

Yes, it has been hard having a cookie tray and countless other not-so-great-for-you-foods everywhere I go this past week (and it is looking like that will continue for a few more days...I can barely contain my excitement!)

So much so, I'm starting to feel like cookies and candies are going to start coming out of the walls...they're everywhere!!!!

And don't even get me started on pretzels covered in any form of chocolate!!! Why are those stupidly delicious things like crack cocaine?!?! Gahhh!

But guess what?

I am in control.

No one is making me eat cookies or stupidly delicious pretzels or other unhealthy foods. I'm making that choice.

And no one is going to stand in my way from getting in a workout, only myself.

It's all about choices.

And it helps that a very big black man will look at me with disappointed eyes and make me want to die in my next workout if I don't make good choices.

Hey, accountability never hurt anyone!!!

I'll say it a million times, there is no better time to dust off your self-control muscle than over Christmas.

Because you know what is an even better feeling than saying no to unhealthy foods over Christmas?

LOSING 7 POUNDS OVER CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you hear me?

I LOST 7 POUNDS OVER CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!

{...excuse my while I walk on some sunshine...}

How did I do it?

I became the weirdo that brought her own food to Christmas and ate different stuff than everyone else for every meal.

I ate celery and carrots when everyone else was eating cookies.

I made time to go to the gym, even when no one wanted to go with me.

And you know what?

I still had a few cookies and these ridiculously awesome fat-filled scones (stay tuned, I'll show you soon!) on Christmas morning.

I still ate some of the best of my Mama's cookin' because her cookin' is amazzzzzing.

And the best part?

I proved to myself that I could still be successful exercising my self-control muscle and taking one bite of  those not-so-good-for-you-foods instead of twenty, and I maybe even a beer or two, instead of...well, more than that. :)

And I look really good in my new sweater from...myself.

What?

Don't act like you don't buy yourself Christmas gifts!!!

Practice moderation with me for the remainder of this holiday season, will you?

I promise you'll thank me later! :)
