Meat Candy

Fair warning: no part of this post is healthy. As if you couldn't already tell by the title, right?

If you want to be the hero of your next get-together with friends that involves bringing food to share, you should make these.

I feel like this is one of those times where a picture says a thousand words and I should stop talking and just tell you how to make them.

Step 1: Go to the grocery store.

Step 2: Arrive at the store and find yourself a cart. Search the aisles for bacon, dates, a blue cheese wedge and toothpicks. Oh, and your favorite bottle of wine, too. Duh!

Step 3: Wipe the drool from your mouth and make your way to the check out counter. Once you've paid, run out of the store yelling "MEATTT CANDDYYYY!!!!" and rush home to start assembling.

Step 4: Find a sharp knife and a cutting board. Cut your bacon slices into thirds. Cut a slit in each of the dates. Then cut multiple chunks of blue cheese off the wedge.

Step 5: Fill the middle of each date with ample blue cheese, then wrap with bacon. Put a toothpick through the middle and place on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.

Step 6: Say aluminum 5 times fast.

Step 7: Laugh at yourself for falling for that one. I'm so tricky :)

Step 8: Place them in a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes or so.

Step 9: Take them out of the oven and go do something productive. They are way better when they aren't piping hot and if you're anything like me you won't be able to leave these alone unless you're busy.

Step 10: About 10-15 minutes after taking them out of the oven, EAT!!!!!

Step 11: Send me a thank you note and tell me how awesome I am for sharing this recipe with you!
